I think this album is AMAZING. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. What do you like about it?

I loved the early ‘Can’ albums with Malcolm Mooney.
When I first heard ‘monster movie‘ (nearly 40 years ago…Lol), I found it to be a wonderful mix of very ‘Velvet Underground’ influenced trance psych/rock, ala
‘Sister Ray’, or ‘The Gift’, with touches of Karlheinz Stockhausen here and there, topped off with a couple more straight ahead psych rockers….here’s an excerpt from ‘Father Cannot Yell’, a song featured on the ‘Monster Movie’ album…and one of my favorites. Malcolm’s babbling/narrative style of singing reminds me of Lou Reed or John Cale (with German accents) in many ways…

Here’s a couple more great tracks from the ‘Monster Movie’ album…
Outside My Door:

Mary, Mary So Contrary:

But you’re right…the album is amazing, and to this day I still hold it in high regard. Their follow up album ‘Soundtracks’ is equally entertaining, and if you haven’t heard it yet…it’s highly recommended.
Their style seemed to do a complete turn after Malcolm left the band…but I still enjoyed everything that ‘Can’ did with Damon as well. Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi, and Future Days being my favorite albums with him…fantastic band!
