What’s the name of this movie of an invisible monster or alien?

A few scenes: one the monster’s footprints appear on the ground as he’s walking, then he walks up a staircase. Another scene is when the guys were zapping him I think and then he appears as a red outline, then one of the guys flies towards him, then vanishes. And later on, the monster is trying to get through the doors and the doors light up orange. This movie looks like it’s set in the future or something.

Classic masterpiece of 50s era Sci Fi – Forbidden Planet is the movie.

    Forbidden Planet (1956)
starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Warren Stevens, Jack Kelly, Richard Anderson, Earl Holliman, James Drury
    IMDb synopsis:
When an Earth mission arrives on Altair IV, they find that Dr. Edward Morbius and his beautiful daughter Altaira are the only survivors from the original expedition that had arrived some 20 years before. Morbius isn’t exactly pleased to see them and would have preferred that they not even land their spaceship. He does his best to get them on their way but Commander Abrams and his men soon face an invisible force leading them to believe that Morbius and the girl are in danger. Morbius claims to know nothing of other life on the planet but does reveal there once existed a far superior race, now extinct, that left a huge subterranean industrial and scientific complex.

I was about 5 years old when my parents took me to see this film. While I don’t recall a lot about the experience, I’m sure I was as dazzled as everyone else. This film has been one of my favorite sci fi films for more than half a century; in that time, I’ve undoubtedly seen it at least 200 times, as I watch it several times a year. I’ve read that this film was a major source of inspiration to Gene Roddenberry as he created "Star Trek". What’s really amazing is that the studio rushed the release of the film, meaning they did not get to include some scenes or work on effects as much as they planned. As it is, the effects still hold up beautifully!

EDIT: I gave Simon a thumbs up to balance out the troll who attacked. Generally, all of my answers receive thumbs down for whatever reason, and several people here at Y!A Movies told me that cruel beings called trolls do this. I guess they must have left their hideouts under bridges to begin roaming the Net~or at least Y!A. *giggle*
