I've read that this film was a major source of inspiration to Gene Roddenberry as he created "Star Trek". What's really amazing is that the studio rushed the release of the film, meaning they did not get to include some scenes or work on effects as much as they planned. Generally, all of my answers receive thumbs down for whatever reason, and several people here at Y!A Movies told me that cruel beings called trolls do this.
